Dan Wildfong helped the Mudbugs widen the gap with a power-play goal early in the second period. Chris Brassard had control of the puck at the top of the crease
Backhander richochet to Wildfong, who banked one off Beaudry.
Henry Kuster put the Ice Bats on he board with a power play goal midway through the second period. The Mudbugs responded vehemently when Jason Basile delivered hockey’s version of a dagger – a short-handed goal.
Basile and Joe Ori skated toward Beaudry on a 2-on-1 rush. The defenseman waited until the last second, never passed the puck and beat the Ice Bats goalie with a beautiful backhanded move to give Bossier-Shreveport a 4-1 lead.
BUGS LEAD 2-0 AFTER 1
Bossier-Shreveport tallied another goal late in the first period on a dazzling connection from a pair of first-year Mudbugs.
Jason Williamson won the faceoff in the left circle of Austin’s zone and Kyle Musselman immediately rifled a one-timer past a stunned Beaudry.

MURPHY WASTES NO TIME
It took one shift for Chris Murphy to send a message to the Mudbugs. He made a bee-line for defenseman Ryan Fairbarn and sent him to the ice with an elbow to the jaw.
AUSTIN WITHOUT LEADING SCORER; BUGS GET CAM ABBOTT BACK
The Ice Bats will play without leading scorer John McNabb tonight, but team officials say he may be back for Sunday's rematch in Austin.
The goaltenders tonight will be John DeCaro for the Mudbugs and Miguel Beaudry for Austin.
Cam Abbott, the impressive rookie for Bossier-Shreveport, is back in the lineup after a stint on the 14-day IR.
