11/28 BUGS VS. MEMPHIS (L, 3-2)

THE WRAP-UP
http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061128/SPORTS0303/311280013/1001/SPORTS

Have to agree with Muscutt on one thing ...
If indeed he didn't say anything ridiculous to referee Keith Kaval, the second 5-on-3 for Memphis was probably a stretch. However, the Mudbugs had PLENTY of chances to win this game. And during the first 20 minutes, it didn't even look like the Mudbugs belonged on the same sheet of ice.

The crowd is booing, but Forbes MacPherson lost his bid for an Oscar and the Mudbugs lost the lead
In my opinion, MacPherson did not get decked at center ice (illegally anyhow) and instead tried to draw a penalty. Dan Wildfong, thinking MacPherson got run, retaliated with a slash.
In the end, Derrick Landmesser scored during a 5-on-3 and head coach Scott Muscutt took another penalty to give the RiverKings another 5-on-3 chance at the end of the second period.
2-1 Kings after 40 minutes.
This completely changed the outlook of the this game, but the striped one got this right I believe.

Bugs getting pushed around ... but it's still 1-0
Memphis is having its way with Bossier-Shreveport right now. They look bigger and faster and definitely more in tune with each other.

Cue the Jeorpardy music
The scoreboard appears frozen as the teams look to start the second period. The only thing more stagnant than the Mudbugs' offense is the computer chip in the scorebard.

Memphis leads 1-0 after one
The bad news: The Mudbugs trail.
The good news: It could be much worse.
If Memphis loses this game, it will definitely roo the numerous chances in the opening 20 minutes.

RiverKings are a different team
It's interesting to watch the RiveRKings without Don Parsons. You actually watch other players and not just No. 13.
Memphis has put on an excellent display of passing tonight and the only thing between the Mudbugs and a 3-0 deficit is goaltender John DeCaro.

Memphis on top already
It took the RiverKings took just 60 seconds and one shot to burn the CHL's best penalty kill unit as Jason Sessa scored to give the Kings an early 1-0 lead.

Chris Murphy back in the lineup for the Mudbugs
Murphy has played just six games for Bossier-Shreveport this season, but has returned from an undisclosed injury Tuesday against Memphis.
Murphy is a live wire and will certainly be entertaining to watch.
Cam Abbott, who has scored two game-winning goals this season, was put on the injured reserve.
John DeCaro will be in net for the Mudbugs tonight.

11/25 BUGS VS. WICHITA

It's not a power-play goal, but ...
Dan Wildfong did knock in a puck ONE second after the Mudbugs' third power play expired. We have a tie game.

If you're not going to keep a somewhat-accurate shot total, why have a shot board?
Ken Carroll has been screwed out of at least 3 saves.

Blaznek strikes first
Wichita leads 1-0.

Quick 0-for-2 start in the PP.
Really good movement though. Keep that up and it will be just a matter of time.

Martin vs. Carroll it is!
Hmmm.

Could it be Andrew Martin in net for Wichita?
The former Mudbugs goalie skated out first for the Thunder. This would be interesting. However, Dean Martin could shut the Mudbugs down right now.

11/24 VS. RIO GRANDE VALLEY

ROOKIE MISTAKE PUTS BUGS IN HOLE
The first period is over and the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs allowed just two shots, but they trail 1-0 after a huge rookie mistake by defenseman Brian Sutherland.
Sutherland coughed up the puck right in front of Ken Carroll and Jonathan Robert picked up the loose rubber and beat Ken Carroll, who was completely caught off guard.
The Mudbugs are 0-4 on the power play and are not improving their palty numbers with the man-advantage.

KEN CARROLL IN NET
Superman will look to get the Mudbugs back on track tonight at the CenturyTel Center. The Mudbugs are 4-0 at the CTC this season.

11/22 AT RIO GRANDE VALLEY, L 3-0

“(We hit) a couple of goal posts and early in the hockey game we had chances to score and didn’t score,” Bossier-Shreveport coach Scott Muscutt said. “We got beat by a better team (Wednesday). They outworked us. We’ve got a lot of growing to do between now and (tonight).”

11/18 BUGS VS. OKLAHOMA CITY

BUGS WIN IN SHOOTOUT
Carroll outstanding. Read more at shreveporttimes.com

TIED UP WITH 4 MINS LEFT
Both goaltenders outstanding tonight.

IT TOOK A 4-ON-4 GOAL
The Bugs lead 1-0 early in the third.

IF YOUR POWER PLAY ISN'T WORKING ...
Your penalty kill must be stellar. And the Mudbugs' is just that. Oklahoma City has had several chances, but the Blazers fell to 0-for-6 thanks to a pair of unsuccessful opportunities late in the second period.
The game is scoreless heading to the final frame.

MAKE THAT 0-FOR-7
The Mudbugs were unsuccessful on their fifth power play of the second period. But it lasted just 18 seconds.

POWER PLAY CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM
The Mudbugs are now 0-for-6 on the power play tonight. They snapped an 0-for-18 streak last night, but that was courtesy of a 5-on-3 tally.

CONNORS KEEPS GAME SCORELESS
Sean Connors, replacing a 5-0 Sebastien Centomo, has made several key saves in the second period as the Mudbugs are flying all over the ice.

TIED AFTER 20 MINUTES; VERY ENTERTAINING
Tonight's game is much more entertaining that last night. The Blazers and Mudbugs are scoreless after one period, but the teams have combined for 27 shots, one fight and several scoring opportunities.
Last night, Austin and Bossier-Shreveport had a total of 26 shots midway throught the third in an extremely dull contest.

WILLIAMSON VS. DEARLE
The Mudbugs fans get their chance to see newcomer Jason Williamson drop the gloves. He went toe-to-toe with Oak City's Graham Dearle in a very entertaining bout late in the first period. Both players landed several punches, Dearle lefts and Williamson rights.

TONIGHT GOOD TEST OF WHERE THE BUGS STAND
Just two of the 5 Mudbugs victories have come against teams with winning records and Oklahoma City is definitely one of the best teams the Mudbugs have played so far.
Austin was downright pathetic last night, but a victory against the Blazers would be significant ... especially with the talent sitting in the stands due to injury.

I WISH WE COULDN'T SEE THESE CAMO JERSEYS
The Mudbugs have reached a new low in regards to their jersey auctions. The white, grey and black sweaters tonight are ... ummm ... bad. For starters, the numbers are completely invisible (how appropriate). Not good for fans who don't know who these players are yet.
Nevertheless, fans will dish out hundreds, some thousands, of dollars to bid on these after the game against the Blazers.

P-I-M-P
It was bittersweet to see Dan Wildfong tonight.
On one hand it was hilarious. The Mudbugs captain was wearing a spiffy suit, but walking with a cane. Well it was a cutoff hockey stick transformed into a cane. But as Jay-Z says, “pimpin aint easy”
Wildfong says his leg, which was debilitated due to a two-hander by Paul McBrien at Lubbock, isn’t getting any better.
He missed Friday’s game and is obviously out tonight. The Mudbugs play at Rio Grande Valley on Wednesday before returning to the CTC for a doubleheader next weekend.
Wildfong’s status for the upcoming games remains questionable.
