BUGS WIN IN SHOOTOUT
Carroll outstanding. Read more at shreveporttimes.com
TIED UP WITH 4 MINS LEFT
Both goaltenders outstanding tonight.
IT TOOK A 4-ON-4 GOAL
The Bugs lead 1-0 early in the third.
IF YOUR POWER PLAY ISN'T WORKING ...
Your penalty kill must be stellar. And the Mudbugs' is just that. Oklahoma City has had several chances, but the Blazers fell to 0-for-6 thanks to a pair of unsuccessful opportunities late in the second period.
The game is scoreless heading to the final frame.
MAKE THAT 0-FOR-7
The Mudbugs were unsuccessful on their fifth power play of the second period. But it lasted just 18 seconds.
POWER PLAY CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM
The Mudbugs are now 0-for-6 on the power play tonight. They snapped an 0-for-18 streak last night, but that was courtesy of a 5-on-3 tally.
CONNORS KEEPS GAME SCORELESS
Sean Connors, replacing a 5-0 Sebastien Centomo, has made several key saves in the second period as the Mudbugs are flying all over the ice.
TIED AFTER 20 MINUTES; VERY ENTERTAINING
Tonight's game is much more entertaining that last night. The Blazers and Mudbugs are scoreless after one period, but the teams have combined for 27 shots, one fight and several scoring opportunities.
Last night, Austin and Bossier-Shreveport had a total of 26 shots midway throught the third in an extremely dull contest.
WILLIAMSON VS. DEARLE
The Mudbugs fans get their chance to see newcomer Jason Williamson drop the gloves. He went toe-to-toe with Oak City's Graham Dearle in a very entertaining bout late in the first period. Both players landed several punches, Dearle lefts and Williamson rights.
TONIGHT GOOD TEST OF WHERE THE BUGS STAND
Just two of the 5 Mudbugs victories have come against teams with winning records and Oklahoma City is definitely one of the best teams the Mudbugs have played so far.
Austin was downright pathetic last night, but a victory against the Blazers would be significant ... especially with the talent sitting in the stands due to injury.
I WISH WE COULDN'T SEE THESE CAMO JERSEYS
The Mudbugs have reached a new low in regards to their jersey auctions. The white, grey and black sweaters tonight are ... ummm ... bad. For starters, the numbers are completely invisible (how appropriate). Not good for fans who don't know who these players are yet.
Nevertheless, fans will dish out hundreds, some thousands, of dollars to bid on these after the game against the Blazers.
P-I-M-P
It was bittersweet to see Dan Wildfong tonight.
On one hand it was hilarious. The Mudbugs captain was wearing a spiffy suit, but walking with a cane. Well it was a cutoff hockey stick transformed into a cane. But as Jay-Z says, “pimpin aint easy”
Wildfong says his leg, which was debilitated due to a two-hander by Paul McBrien at Lubbock, isn’t getting any better.
He missed Friday’s game and is obviously out tonight. The Mudbugs play at Rio Grande Valley on Wednesday before returning to the CTC for a doubleheader next weekend.
Wildfong’s status for the upcoming games remains questionable.
