3/14 BUGS at MEMPHIS (W, 6-1)

IT WAS GOOD WHILE IT LASTED
Chris Shaw was stripped of the assist he was originally credited with in the third period. I have it from a good source that Brett Smith will likely be given the second assist on the Mudbugs' final goal.
I feel bad for this guy. It's one thing to go through this, but to have the point, then see it disappear is torture!
TIME: 10:32 p.m.

BUGS BLAST MEMPHIS 6-1.
Chris Shaw got a point, Scott Sheppard had two goals and David Cacciola made 43 saves.
TIME: 9:24 p.m.

CHRIS SHAW GETS A POINT!!!
Congratulations to Chris Shaw, who was awarded an assist on Scott Sheppard's second goal in the third period.
TIME: 8:57 p.m.

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE TAME
The Memphis RiverKings and Mudbugs closed the second period with a bunch of trash talking and Dale Lupul bleeding like stuck pig after taking a punch from Darrell Stoddard.
One word for the third ...
GONG

CAMPBELL MAKES IT 4-0
Jason Campbell scored on a wrister from just inside the blue line to give Bossier-Shreveport a 4-0 lead.
If the CHL was smart, they would institute the 5-goal rule in this one.
TIME: 8:02 p.m.

KUDOS TO DON LONG
It's celebrity night on the radio. First Scott McLeod, aka Biggie Small, is the color guy, now Don Long, Dan Wildfong's father-in-law makes a cameo.
Don, you think Dan is a good scramble partner? Give me a call sometime! haha.
My scramble services are always available.
TIME: 7:49 p.m.

SO, WHERE DOES CARROLL'S ABSENCE LEAVE THE BUGS
Anyone who thought Ken Carroll was just resting up for the playoffs may own a pair of teal and purple glasses. It's clear now that Carroll is hurt, and has been for some time. It will be tough to know exactly how severe Carroll's injury is, Scott Muscutt will not say -- he never comments on injuries.
David Cacciola is having a tremendous year, but there is just something about seeing No. 34 between the pipes come playoff time.
Mudbugs fans can only home this injury will heal in the next two weeks.
TIME: 7:46 p.m.

MILAN VODRAZKA!!
He's a Memphis killer! He scores to make it 3-0 late in the first period. The RiverKings are headed on the power play. Memphis is brutal. Enough said.
TIME: 7:30 p.m.

MARTIN STEHL
Name of new goaltender. He's from Southern New Hampshire.
TIME: 7:23 p.m.

MUSCUTT NOT BEHIND THE BENCH
Trevor Buchanan is coaching this team as head coach Scott Muscutt is under the weather. If the Mudbugs win this one, I don't want any e-mails telling me what the Mudbugs' record with Buck behind the bench is.
TIME: 7:19 p.m.

BRASSARD, MANITOWICH SCORE TWO QUICKIES
The Mudbugs are dominating early. As in most games, the third goal will prove extremely important. A 3-0 lead would be the final dagger I believe as Memphis is TERRIBLE at coming from behind this season.
TIME: 7:17 p.m.

WE KNEW THIS WAS COMING
Ken Carroll is no longer a "healthy" scratch. The Mudbugs signed a third goaltender who will be on the bench tonight. Details coming soon.
TIME: 6:53 p.m.

SCOTT MCLEOD A MUST LISTEN!
My buddy Scott is doing the color for tonight's game on 1130 AM. This is an absolute must listen. He's hilarious, the nicest guy you would ever want to meet and i good hockey guy!!!
TIME: 6:47 p.m.

Outlook

These teams have met nine times this season, but dang it seems like it's been awhile. Well, the rivalry will be rekindled as tonight is the first of three meetings in the final six games (The RiverKings visit the CenturyTel Center March 21 and 23) ... Memphis legend Don Parsons missed a month -- of course the RiverKings didn't play the Mudbugs during that time -- but has collected four points in his two games back. He has scored two of three game-winners against Bossier-Shreveport this season. Dan Wildfong and Ryan Manitowich have two game-winners for the Bugs ... Wonder if David Cacciola will continue to help Ken Carroll "rest?"
