CAPTAIN WILDFONG RESPONDS
Dan Wildfong might be the guy to help the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs pick things up. The captain responded to John McNabb's goal with one of his own -- less than three minutes later -- and the Bugs are tied 1-1 in Austin.

STAT OF THE DAY
Two of the Mudbugs' nine victories have come against teams with a winning record -- Nov. 2 at Colorado and Nov. 18 at Wichita.

WELL THE SUN CAME UP AGAIN TODAY
Mudbugs fans must be happy a new day has arrived. The team is in Austin, and will face the Ice Bats tonight, trying to turn things around. The Ice Bats -- losers by an 11-2 tally their last time out -- seem to be a perfect victim.
As expected, and rightfully so, Mudbugs fans went off the deep end after Thursday's debacle against Colorado. However, those calling for Scott Muscutt's head are way out of line. This is a coach with the best record in the CHL since his arrival. The team is struggling, but give him time. We aren't even 1/3 of the way through the season.
Even if the worst-case scenario happens, and the Mudbugs don't make the playoffs, Muscutt deserves a mulligan -- assuming he doesn't do anything ridiculous to embarrass the team.
Bottom line, like I said last night right here, someone has to step up to the plate and get this team going.
The Mudbugs SHOULD win tonight, the team they are playing just isn't good. No, it won't make things right, but tonight offers a possibility to defeat a team and build momentum for the next time the Mudbugs face a playoff-caliber team.
